what a difference a week makes

bad back and all dear hubby got upper cabinets hung and most of the base cabinets in place!

have I said lately he's my hero?!

Doing dishes

So this last week my kitchen sink was temporarily removed so I now have the fun job of doing the dishes in the bathroom.

Step one:

Gather up all the dishes that have stacked up during the week:

step two:

put 'em in the bathroom

step three:

find the pans I use to make dressing in during the holidays (I will never look at them the same) and get water in 'em in the bathtub.

step four:

get the portable dishwasher and get dear hubby to push it into bathroom door while talking him into sitting on the "throne" (lid down) and put the washed and rinsed dishes in the dishwasher to dry:

All done!

step five:

Go to the store and obtain disposable plates, bowls, silverware and lots of sandwich stuff!

where's my sink?!

I came home to no kitchen sink...

is it here?

well, yes that's it but that's not the one that's going back in...

there it is in it's box, waiting patiently to be installed.

guess I'll be investing in a lot of paper products.  Somehow doing dishes in the bathtub isn't very appealing and it looks like there's some work to be done before I have a sink again.  Looks like tonight is a Bueno night...

mud, tape and paint

I know, I know, it's been awhile since I've posted an update.  I didn't think ya'll would want to hear "today he sanded and did some more mudding " over and over and over so here's a bit of what's been going on ....the Ta Da wall fell down the other day while we were watching t.v.

Dear Hubby decided that he'd rather try his hand at "wet sanding" rather than put the wall back up.  The wet sanding process - whatever that is - worked pretty well.  There was still dust but not NEARLY as much as I thought there would be. Which means dear hubby can live awhile longer. He wants to paint before he starts installing cabinets and stuff so here's what we now have...

go ahead, talk about my sink full of dirty dishes...it's The Boy's job and he fell down on it - slept is more like it don't ya think?

the areas not covered with sheetrock will be hidden by cabinets and there is more work to do, but Dear Hubby isn't worried about anyone seeing the mud and tape job so that's why it isn't done.

there is a door standing in the spot for the door to the new bathroom...it's not installed but you get the idea....

More later...for now, I'm hot and ready to go sit in front of a fan.
