fridge moving day

I took vacation today and tomorrow to get my house back in some sort of order...

Here was my goal:
to get all this stuff moved into the kitchen, but I have to leave room for the guys to work on the electricity Saturday...yes, Saturday I'm going to have the electric hooked up in the kitchen...yes, Saturday is the tailgate party...it'll be what it'll be....

here's what the view looked like at the end of the day:

it doesn't look like much but we really did get stuff done.  The fridge got moved, since it's on a difference circuit than the ovens, stove top, microwave and countertop it could be hooked up immediately after the move...that was a big deal...it had to be emptied first - amazing what gets lost in there and how dirty it can get in just six months...

I realized once again that we don't do very well at eating left overs...why do we bother putting them in containers? We're only delaying the inevitable...

then Dear Hubby and The Boy had to move the fridge...Dear Hubby measured the clearance several times before this day got here, he assured me the fridge would get to it's end spot - with a little effort...
he told The Boy not to let go, just as The Boy let go of the dolly...Dear Hubby was launched up a bit...

woohoo!!!!  We have a fridge in the kitchen again!

One last thing...

Dear Hubby got the bar top cut and installed and ready for tile!

backsplash and floor

Here's what Dear Hubby accomplished today:

still a lot to do, but we've come a long way baby!

The countdown is on!

Here's what Dear Hubby got done today:

Backsplash is cut and ready to attach to the wall..and something had to be done to the wall so the paint job is messed up - he says it's "no big deal"...

floor got patched - which means my floor can be installed (tomorrow maybe?!)

I have no clue why that crow bar is there...

the cabinet for the double oven is now installed - which should mean I get my ovens installed soon, right?

sheetrock was hung in the new 3/4ish bath too...that means that the sheetrock that was in the walkway into the kitchen (because that is where sheetrock is supposed to be stored) is now gone, which means the fridge can be moved out of the dining room (another logical place for cold food storage) into the kitchen - as soon as the floor is installed.  Today is the 12th, the OSU/TU football game was the goal I gave Dear Hubby to have me a functional kitchen when he started the tear out back in March.  The OSU/TU football game is this Saturday, the 17th, and the word is out that we're having a tailgate party...the countdown is on!!

Running water in the kitchen!

I won tickets this week to go to a Beth Moore simulcast being broadcast at Metro Christian today.  I was blessed with not having to listen to how much Dear Hubby hates plumbing because of all of the trips to Lowe's it entails.  I got home at 4ish and only had to listen to a fit or two and counted three trips to Lowe's in 1.5 hours.  The end result is that I have a kitchen sink again!!!  I also have a built in dishwasher and no longer have to roll one from one side of the kitchen to the other!  Woooohoooo!!!

by next Saturday I am to have a functioning kitchen...TU/OSU tailgate at my house! Yes, I'm serious! Come on by and see what we've got going on...

counter tops - getting closer!

Here's what Dear Hubby got done today:

The granite tiles are all cut and in place - ready for mortar!

the pennies are "spacers" - he saved a few pennies by not buying the plastic spacer thingys at Lowe's too!  He just had to round up about 300 pennies....what does that say for my housekeeping?

My hoarder leaning husband found this that he had picked up from a job:

The back splash is what we'll now use it for...I think it was planned for the bathroom but we may still have enough for that too...this first stack below is what he figures we'll need for the kitchen
then he found this box...and below that box is...
 this box....

I guess some level of hoarding is a good thing!  A BUNCH of pennies saved here! WOOHOO!

counter tops - the middle

At the beginning of the day there were two of these pantry cabinets.  Dear Hubby took one of 'em and tore it apart...

He used part to make the outside cabinet of the dishwasher and part to cover the outside of the small lower cabinet below...he used the doors to cover the hot water tank.

The granite tile is laid out and ready for his next day of work.

blast from the past

I looked through some old pictures today - not digital ones mind you, these are almost 20 years old...for those of you who may have forgotten what the kitchen used to look like - or may want to forget for that matter...I used the scanner and here are a couple pics from the old days:

counter tops - the beginning

The beginning of the day - Labor Day 2011

Do you see that?! A sink....it's not hooked up, but still - it's a kitchen sink!
The stove top - I think I'll have some dusting to do - it fits in the hole though....

go baby go!
